Vung Vieng fishing village beckons tourists back to Halong Bay wild side

Indochina Junk - There are times of bad weather, however autumn in Halong Bay gives visitors a more nostalgic feeling because the clouds seem to be pushed up higher, the sky is clearer, the emerald sea water is also gentler. And this is also the beginning of the peak season for foreign visitors, especially European and American visitors, who come to avoid the cold winter of the cold climate and enjoy the warm air of the tropical sea during their trips...

The story in Vung Vieng

Following the canoe to the offshore sea on the VHL3, VHL4 journey of Halong Bay, in just a moment we had left the coastal landscape far behind, and there were no longer countless luxurious cruise ships "pleasing to the eye" in sight, but only the vast waves and majestic large and small rocky mountains of the sea. This desertedness, according to some tourism businesses, is on the contrary a plus point for many foreign tourists, especially high-class tourists.

We stopped by Vung Vieng Fishing Village - one of the poetic destinations on route number 4 in Halong Bay. The fishing village is nestled next to majestic rocky mountains in the middle of the sea, with a unique "village gate" made of natural stone. Through research, it is known that there are currently 4 businesses investing in a number of services to serve tourists, such as: Boat rowing and kayaking services to visit the fishing village; Halong sea wine; visiting the pearl processing and farming area and shopping for products, Halong Bay photo exhibition area.

Each point has its own unique features, such as the art gallery that provides visitors with new perspectives on the heritage; the display of fishermen's daily necessities shows the unique cultural features of fishermen who have lived on Halong Bay for many generations. In particular, the two sales areas and pearl farming experience areas here can make visitors marvel at thousands of precious and delicate jewelry products made from pearls cultured directly on Halong Bay.

Listening to the staff's stories, we understood that this area was not too crowded with groups of tourists and they were mostly foreign tourists staying overnight on cruise ships. Luckily, after waiting for a while, we met several groups of tourists coming one after another. It was easy to see that, unlike the area near the shore, the boats here did not have many passengers, some boats carried 2 passengers, many boats only had about 20 passengers. Guests could choose different experiences. Vung Vieng fishing village has a relatively large area, most guests choose to sit on a bamboo boat or kayak to enjoy the beauty of the heritage landscape, feel the freedom of the sea and the wild, peaceful nature. These are simple experiences that are very attractive to tourists.

Research shows that the Vung Vieng fishing village area mainly attracts foreign tourists, such as Chinese, Korean, Indian, and European tourists. However, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of visitors here has decreased significantly, especially Asian tourists. The number of visitors used to be around 17,000 to 22,000 per month, now only fluctuates from around 4,000 to 8,000 to 9,000 per month, only 1/3 compared to before.

Nguyen Ngoc Hieu, manager of Vung Vieng Fishing Village Tourism Joint Stock Company, said: After the epidemic, the economy has declined, affecting the travel needs of tourists. Second, the products on the route are still limited. Tourists are currently not allowed to swim in the sea in this area even though there are many beautiful sandy beaches. Foreign tourists once shared with me that they traveled a long way to get here but still have not been able to swim in the sea in Halong Bay. The main services here are rowing boats, kayaking, visitors here expressed their desire to play water sports, snorkeling to see corals, surfing, parasailing, high-speed canoeing... but they are not available here yet. The caves in this area are small but pristine and quite beautiful, but currently only Co Cave is open to visitors, I think it will also attract tourists if we exploit the caves here better.

The VHL3 itinerary includes attractions such as: Cua Van Floating Cultural Center, Bamboo Forest area, Tien Ong cave, Ang Du, Ba Ham lake, Ba Men temple. The VHL4 itinerary includes: Hang Co - Hang Thay - Hang Cap La - Vung Vieng - Tung Ang eco-tourism area - Cong Do island - Hon Xep park. The landscapes of the areas on these two sightseeing routes are wild, quiet, with diverse ecosystems and very special destinations in terms of cultural and historical values. However, the services are similar to the Vung Vieng fishing village area, not much. Many places on the route are not currently exploited, such as: Cua Van Floating Cultural Center has been degraded and devastated by storms, not yet restored; the Bamboo forest area, Hang Thay, Hang Cap La have not been exploited or the infrastructure is not guaranteed for tourists to visit.

Indochina Junk Cruise company has been specializing in exploiting the VHL4 route for the past 15 years. The company currently welcomes about 24 thousand guests annually, mainly European guests. When we arrived at the Co cave area on route 4, six of the company's cruise ships were taking guests to visit and experience the area.

Director of Indochina Junk Cruise analyzed: The European tourist groups that we are exploiting recently has even grown. We only focus on small and medium-sized tourists. But recently, most businesses have focused on building very large cruise ships, similar in design to those of European countries, with a room capacity of 20 rooms or more. Therefore, the European tourists, high-paying customers, and customers who need privacy when coming to Halong Bay will currently lack many product segments.

In addition, he also proposed to develop more diverse products on the route. He said: In all meetings, we expressed our views on how to open up and create new products on route 4 of Halong Bay. We also proposed services on the route such as exploiting small and medium-sized beaches so that tourists in high-end segments but traveling in groups of less than 40 people can visit, experience and bathe on the beaches, or organize small parties on the sandy beaches of Hon Co, for example. However, these proposals have not yet been resolved, we are still struggling with the issue of how to manage them.

The needs of tourists and businesses are very legitimate. Satisfactory resolution of these issues is also an opportunity to open up and continue to exploit the potential of Halong Bay. Concerned about this issue, policy solutions are the first priority.

The Halong Bay Management Board said that in the coming time, the unit will focus on accelerating the completion of the legal corridor to serve as a basis for implementing tourism infrastructure investment projects and developing tourism products aimed at the high-paying customer market on VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries. The products will be selectively developed, such as: Organizing art performances in caves and sandbanks combined with organizing light parties; organizing mountain climbing tours, exploring new caves in Halong Bay; organizing squid fishing and recreational fishing services; developing fashion shows; adding underwater entertainment products combined with fishing village culinary experiences...

In addition, to attract more visitors during the day, the unit plans to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration the exploitation of high-speed boats to take visitors to offshore routes. Regarding infrastructure, speed up the completion of construction, repair and renovation of degraded infrastructure at the points currently welcoming visitors on the two itineraries VHL3 and VHL4. At the same time, review and deploy new investment in infrastructure at points that are included in the ticket structure of the two itineraries above but have not been invested in the past time, to ensure adequate conditions to welcome visitors, such as: Ba Ham Lake, Ba Men Temple, Du Cave, Truc Forest, Thay Cave, Cap La Cave, Pine Area - Cong Do Cave...

Lao Cai diversifying tourism landscape for sustainable growth

Train Hanoi to Sapa - In recent years, Lao Cai tourism has developed strongly, gradually affirming its important position in the economic structure. Resort, ecological, cultural and spiritual tourism products are increasingly diverse, attracting tourists, contributing to improving people's lives.

In 2025, the province is expected to welcome over 10 million visitors, with revenue of more than VND 46,000 billion, 2.4 times higher than in 2020, contributing about 10% of the province's GRDP.

The province's key tourist destinations such as Sa Pa, Bac Ha, Y Ty, Mu Cang Chai, etc. have continuously become favorite destinations for tourists.

Tourism development has made an important and direct contribution to the provincial budget, and on the other hand, has gradually created a driving force to promote other service industries, contributing to promoting economic and labor restructuring and creating sustainable livelihoods for people.

Currently, the whole province has about 35,000 workers working in the tourism sector (over 14,500 direct workers, the rest are indirect workers). In particular, a part of ethnic minorities has participated more and more deeply in the tourism value chain.

The whole province has about 740 homestays, attracting over 2,700 direct workers, with an average income of 50 - 70 million VND/household/year, with some households earning from 150 - 200 million VND/year.

Mr. Giang A Sua in Mang Mu village, Mu Cang Chai commune said: The H'Mong people have the custom of hanging corn for preservation. I see that tourists are very interested in hanging corn.

In 2017, my father and I built a small house to hang corn. Later, I organized more experiential tours. Gradually, my house became a space for tourists to visit and learn, many photographers also came to the corn house to take many beautiful photos, the family's income also gradually improved.

When it comes to Lao Cai tourism, Sa Pa National Tourist Area is considered the driving force for tourism development in the region and the country.

Over the past years, all levels have focused on building a strategy to develop Sa Pa, aiming to turn this place into a national and international tourism center, creating unique products and brands, and at the same time spreading the cultural values and people of Lao Cai - Northwest Vietnam to foreign friends.

In the process of development, Sa Pa is also facing many challenges.

Firstly, the "hot" tourism development has led to the appearance of some tourist attractions lacking identity, fading the image of Sa Pa.

Second, urban infrastructure and tourism infrastructure have not kept up with the pace of development.

Third is the cultural influence from outside, threatening traditional customs and practices - which have been the "material" that has created the Sa Pa brand for over 120 years.

Sa Pa Ward People's Committee said: To overcome limitations and elevate Sa Pa to become an international destination, orienting tourism development towards green, sustainable and smart, the Government has approved the general planning of Sa Pa National Tourist Area.

On that basis, the locality is calling for investment in large-scale projects such as eco-resorts, Sa Pa cultural parks, etc. to supplement services and extend the length of stay of tourists. At the same time, it continues to focus on preserving natural landscapes, restoring customs and traditional culture, so that tourists can fully experience the unique identity that has made the Sa Pa brand over the past 120 years.

In the period 2025 - 2030, the province determines to build Lao Cai into a tourist center of the country with unique, high-quality tourism products.

The goal for the 2026 - 2030 term is to have 15 million tourists coming to Lao Cai per year; tourism revenue will reach over 70 trillion VND.

To achieve the set goals, the entire tourism industry has put forth long-term plans and strategies.

First of all, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is making efforts to advise the province to issue new tourism development and support policies based on selectively inheriting tourism development support policies issued by the two old provinces. Continuing to propose support policies related to community tourism products; promotion and advertising of tourism products...

Currently, the industry is advising the province to issue the Project on Tourism Development in Lao Cai Province for the period 2026 - 2030; the Framework for Tourism Development Strategy in Lao Cai Province to 2030, with a vision to 2050, with many important contents.

The most important of which is the orientation of tourism product development, with 3 investment directions to upgrade existing main and auxiliary tourism products (eco-tourism, resort; cultural, spiritual; community...); develop new tourism products and develop specific tourism products, associated with the province's outstanding tourism resources.

At the same time, strengthen the role of connection and domestic and international cooperation in developing tourism products...

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province affirmed: We are very confident and hopeful that with the strategic vision, along with the attention, drastic, close, focused direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Lao Cai province; the coordination, support and assistance of all levels, sectors, localities and international partners; the attention and participation of the People and the business community, along with the proactive and active consultation of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lao Cai tourism will achieve the results as expected, making Lao Cai tourism truly become a spearhead economic sector.

With the efforts of the entire industry, Lao Cai tourism is increasingly affirming its position in the province's general development strategy as well as on the regional tourism map.

Boosting tourism in Halong Bay by revitalizing cruise routes

Cruise on Halong Bay - Halong Bay is a tourist destination in Quang Ninh all year round. However, the attraction of each tourist route on the bay is also different, depending on the flow of tourists, the investment of the exploiting enterprise or the attractiveness of the landscape... In particular, offshore tourist routes with great potential such as VHL3, VHL4 have not yet recovered in terms of tourist numbers compared to the period before the Covid-19 pandemic. To have a comprehensive view of this issue, especially on solutions to increase tourist attraction in the coming time, the reporter had an interview with Mr. Vu Kien Cuong, Head of Halong Bay Management Board.

- Sir, reports say that the number of tourists coming to sightseeing tours in the Bay recently has been uneven, how specifically?

+ The Halong Bay World Heritage Site currently has 8 tour routes. The number of visitors to these routes is uneven. Tourists mainly focus on tours VHL1 and VHL2, which are close to the mainland with traditional tourism products (cave tours, swimming, kayaking, etc.). During holidays and Tet, these 2 tours often experience local overload at some points, such as Thien Cung Cave, Sung Sot Cave, Luon Cave, Ti-Top Beach, etc., affecting the experience of tourists.

In contrast, the number of visitors to the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries is relatively low, mainly visitors staying overnight in Halong Bay. For example, Hang Co is the spot with the highest number of visitors in both itineraries, welcoming nearly 55,000 visitors in 2023, and over 74,000 visitors in 2024. Meanwhile, on the VHL1 itinerary, Thien Cung cave has welcomed over 670,000 and 710,000 visitors in the past 2 years, respectively; on the VHL2 itinerary, Sung Sot cave has welcomed over 1.56 million and over 1.85 million visitors in the past 2 years, respectively...

In terms of potential, the VHL3 and VHL4 journeys are located in an area with great opportunities to develop new tourism products with pristine landscapes, diverse ecosystems and very special destinations with cultural and historical values such as: Cua Van area, Tien Ong cave, Co cave, Vung Vieng fishing village, Cap La cave, Thay cave, Cong Do pine - ang eco-zone...

Furthermore, the daytime ticket price of the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries is only 200,000 VND /person, lower than the daytime ticket price of the VHL1 and VHL2 itineraries which is 250,000 VND /person . However, due to the distance from shore and the long travel time by cruise ship (average 8-10 hours/trip), for many years, these itineraries have mainly been operated by ships that stay overnight in the bay, while the number of tourists visiting during the day is still very limited.

- So what solutions does the unit have to attract more tourists to offshore tours on Halong Bay in the coming time?

+ Attracting visitors and effectively exploiting the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries not only creates new tourism products, attracting international visitors, but also creates a balance in preserving and promoting the values of the heritage sustainably, in accordance with UNESCO's recommendations. Therefore, the Halong Bay Management Board has proposed many solutions. First of all, speed up the progress of completing policy mechanisms (Planning for preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of Halong Bay scenic spots until 2035, vision to 2050; Plan for sustainable tourism development of Halong Bay World Heritage until 2035, vision to 2050; procedures for handing over sea areas, special-use forests...), to create a legal corridor for developing tourism products aimed at the market of high-paying visitors on the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries.

Along with cruise ships, it is expected that speedboats will be the means of transport that can take visitors to VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries in the near future.

Second, actively coordinate with relevant departments, branches, localities and tourism businesses to strengthen surveys to build and develop unique and attractive tourism programs on these two itineraries. In particular, focus on developing high-end, selective and highly competitive tourism services, such as: Organizing art performances in caves and sandbanks combined with organizing light parties; organizing mountain climbing tours, exploring new caves in Halong Bay; organizing squid fishing and recreational fishing services; developing fashion shows; adding underwater entertainment products combined with culinary experiences in fishing villages...

At the same time, we plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration the policy of exploiting VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries by speedboat. The goal of this proposal is to contribute to diversifying the experience of tourists visiting Halong Bay, shortening travel time, overcoming the current situation due to the long travel time by cruise ship, leading to fewer visitors taking day trips to offshore routes. Attracting visitors to these routes also reduces the load on traditional nearshore routes, contributing to environmental protection and rational use of tourism resources of the heritage, in line with UNESCO's sustainable development perspective.

Third, actively coordinate with relevant localities to expand tourism space, strengthen connections between VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries to sightseeing routes in Bai Tu Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, to promote development opportunities and attract visitors. Along with that, continue to focus on propaganda, promotion and advertising of products and services of the two VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries on mass media, social networking platforms, etc.

The road leading to Hang Co is currently quite small and rudimentary, and is expected to be invested in and renovated in the near future.

- The VHL3 and VHL4 sightseeing routes have many beautiful sights but also many limitations. So what is the unit's policy and roadmap for investing in infrastructure and service products to attract tourists?

+ Adhering closely to the province's policies and orientations on developing new, unique, and highly competitive tourism products in Halong Bay, in the coming time, we will focus on accelerating the completion of the legal corridor to serve as a basis for implementing tourism infrastructure investment projects in the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries as mentioned above.

In addition, speed up the completion of construction, repair and renovation of degraded infrastructure at tourist attractions on these two itineraries, to ensure convenience, safety and aesthetics in welcoming and serving tourists.

In particular, focusing on renovating and repairing the Cua Van and Vung Vieng Floating Cultural Center areas; renovating the system of wharves, toilets, waiting rooms, lighting systems, and access roads at Tien Ong cave and Co cave. Maintaining and upgrading the infrastructure of the mooring buoy system, signal buoys at the routes, sightseeing and accommodation points, and the signaling system connecting sightseeing and overnight accommodation points with the inland waterways on the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries; expanding the overnight accommodation area at Cong Do accommodation point...

Review and deploy new investment in infrastructure ( bridges, toilets, waiting rooms, road systems, etc.) at points that are included in the ticket structure of VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries but have not yet been invested in, to ensure adequate conditions for welcoming guests, to meet the needs and ensure the rights of tourists, including: Ba Ham Lake , Ba Men Temple, Du Cave, Truc Forest (VHL3 itinerary ); Thay Cave, Cap La Cave, pine forest - Cong Do Village (VHL4 itinerary) .

At the same time , infrastructure investment in some areas is expected to develop underwater entertainment services, contributing to improving the experience of tourists. Review investment in infrastructure and traffic routes to ensure smooth routes, connecting VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries with tourist destinations in Bai Tu Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay (Cat Ba archipelago, Hai Phong).

Coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to speed up the installation of Internet coverage stations in Halong Bay, especially at tourist attractions on the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries to strengthen the monitoring and supervision of heritage conservation status; manage, supervise and regulate vehicles and tourists, and at the same time serve disaster prevention, search and rescue, and develop tourism here.

With the orientation of synchronous implementation of solutions, we believe that the VHL3 and VHL4 itineraries will become attractive highlights, not only attracting staying guests but also day-trip visitors, contributing to reducing the load on central areas, while enhancing the value of the World Natural Heritage Halong Bay in the eyes of domestic and international tourists.

- Thank you for the conversation!

Exploring the abandoned tunnel of in Bac Kan

Northwest Vietnam travel - This route was built by the French from 1909-1914, originally it was a 35km long railway transporting ore from Ban Thi (Cho Don - Bac Can) to Dam Hong (Chiem Hoa - Tuyen Quang).

The remaining vestiges in Ban Loan (Cho Don - Bac Kan) are tunnels through the mountains, the railway bed was replaced with concrete to form the road into the village as we see today.

This section is beautiful in a mysterious and emotional way, the road through the mountain has a stalactite cave and on one side is a green stream with the sound of a waterfall, looking up under the canopy of the old forest with lush green trees, before there were monkeys jumping and climbing here... It must be much more beautiful than the mountain roads we have seen!

Xuyen Son Thuy Lo in Loan village, a place worth visiting in the journey to explore Bac Kan!

How to get there

- This tunnel can be used by 2.5 ton truck. So if you ask, 4-7 seater cars are just fine. Don't take 5-ton truck and 29 seater bus!

- The route according to Google map: Yen Thinh commune - Cho Don - Bac Kan will be about 200-210km with more than 4 hours driving. When you reach Yen Thinh commune center, ask for directions to Loan village and you will arrive.

In addition, you can go from Bac Kan city or go from Chiem Hoa - Tuyen Quang (this route becomes a loop that does not repeat)

Things to visit: French tunnel, Loan village and stream after the village, Phja Khao mountain (about 18km away), ATK Cho Don market, Na Pau - Ban Thit tourist area, Ba Be lake about 40km away and Cho Don tourist area...

Camp sites around the French tunnel in Loan village: with quite favorable natural terrain, the streams in Cho Don district have very shallow clear water, beautiful pebble beach, few large rocks, not too fast currents, the beach on the stream bank is quite flat and has many trees, suitable for camping with cars and motorbikes. In Loan village, there are 3 places where you can camp:

1: the grass field in front of the first cave, 3-4 cars

2: after the last cave, the field is a bit small, 1-2 cars

3: go deep into the village, the concrete road ends, 4wd vehicles can cross the stream, there is a pretty nice camping ground.

That's it for now, hopefully Cho Don - Bac Kan will be known by more visitors!

Ninh Binh cultural treasures: Tam Chuc and Co Le pagodas honoured national relics

Ninh Binh day trips - The scenic and archaeological site of Tam Chuc complex and the historical and architectural relic of Co Le pagoda in Ninh Binh have just been recognized as special national relics.

Located in Tam Chuc ward, Ninh Binh province, Tam Chuc scenic and archaeological site is considered as "Ha Long Bay on land", with immense lake landscape, majestic limestone mountains and diverse ecosystem. This is not only the largest cultural and spiritual work in the country but also contains many archaeological values, reflecting traces of human habitation and activities in the past. The discovery of relics and archaeological traces here further clarifies the rich cultural history of Ha Nam land, which is the intersection of many civilizations in the delta plain.

Tam Chuc Pagoda Complex with a large scale of over 5,000 hectares, including outstanding works such as Tam The Palace, Phap Chu Palace, Quan Am Palace, Ngoc Tower, is not only a destination for domestic Buddhists but also reaches international level when it hosted the United Nations Vesak Festival in 2019. The massive architecture combined with the vast natural landscape has made Tam Chuc a major spiritual and ecological tourism center in the North.

At the Tam Chuc scenic complex, archaeologists have discovered many important traces, including human remains and three burials (including double burials and reburials) dating back about 10,000 years - clear evidence of early human habitation. In addition, many cultural artifacts were found such as Dong Son-era pottery pieces, small stone tools of the Hoa Binh culture, and sea mollusk shells and stream snails - showing that this area was once a place where ancient residents lived, exploited and used natural resources.

Being ranked as a special national monument further affirms that Tam Chuc is not only a present-day pagoda but also a "cultural-archaeological treasure", preserving long-lasting historical evidence.

Co Le Pagoda - a mark of nearly 1,000 years of Vietnamese Buddhism

If Tam Chuc impresses with its scale and modern beauty, the historical relic and architectural art of Co Le Pagoda, Co Le Commune, Ninh Binh Province is a vivid proof of the long-standing Buddhist tradition of the nation. Co Le Pagoda, named "Than Quang Tu", is a Buddhist cultural and architectural work built in the 12th century, during the reign of King Ly Than Ton, to worship Buddha and Saint Nguyen Minh Khong.

The highlight of Co Le Pagoda is the 32-meter-high Nine-Piece Lotus Tower, a rare architectural symbol in Vietnam, demonstrating the harmony between traditional construction art and Buddhist philosophy. Not only is it a place of religious pilgrimage, the pagoda is also associated with the Co Le festival held in the 9th lunar month every year, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world. The festival with its Buddha procession rituals, peace-praying ceremonies, and folk cultural activities has become an indispensable part of the spiritual life of the people of Ninh Binh and the Northern Delta region.

The recognition of Tam Chuc and Co Le as special national monuments is a worthy recognition of two typical works of Vietnamese Buddhism. One side is a spiritual and archaeological complex of international stature, the other side is an ancient pagoda that has existed for centuries. Both together create a multifaceted picture of Vietnamese culture: both modern and integrated, and ancient and profound.

The title of special national relic not only honors the value of the past but also sets the responsibility for localities and communities in preserving, conserving and promoting heritage. This is also an opportunity for Ninh Binh to promote cultural and spiritual tourism, linking heritage with socio -economic development, and at the same time promoting the image of Vietnam to the world. The two heritages honored today will continue to spread their values, contributing to strengthening the national cultural identity in the integration period.

Hanoi Nam Cua O train - A journey through history and culture

Hanoi travel - After nearly one month of commercial operation, the "Hanoi Nam Cua O" train attracted a large number of passengers and received many positive feedbacks about the service, space and cultural values.

The Hanoi Nam Cua O (Hanoi 5 Gates) train is currently serving passengers on the route from Hanoi Station through Long Bien, Yen Vien stations to Tu Son (Bac Ninh). The double-decker carriages are inspired by the 5 famous Gates of the Capital: Quan Chuong Gate, Dong Mac Gate, Cho Dua Gate, Cau Giay Gate, bringing passengers many interesting experiences. After more than a week of commercial operation, the train has received many positive reviews about the service.

Nguyen Thi Lan from Hanoi said: "The train space is cool, the attendants are enthusiastic, and support taking check-in photos, very suitable for people who like to experience like us".

Nguyen Thi Gai from Yen Hoa Ward said: "It has been a long time since I took the train. This train brings a feeling of comfort, attentive service, and brings back many childhood memories".

Tran Van Hai, a tour guide in Hanoi, commented: "The train is designed for tourists, with spacious compartments and many options. However, the information for passengers is not complete, so it was quite confusing at first."

The round-trip ticket price is flexibly designed for each carriage: O Cau Den, O Quan Chuong, O Cau Giay, O Dong Mac cost 550,000 VND (1st floor) and 650,000 VND (2nd floor); the VIP carriage O Cho Dua costs 750,000 VND. Although some people think the price is high, many passengers consider the experience worth it.

Nguyen Thi Minh Trang from Dong Anh commune said: "I find this price reasonable because there is also a bus from Tu Son station to Den Do. The experience of combining culture, space and intangible art is very interesting, not only attracting domestic but also international visitors."

Tran Van Hai added: "With the price of 550,000 - 750,000 VND/ticket, each person will have a suitable choice. Compared to similar services elsewhere, this price is not high. I bought a lower ticket but the service is still good."

Throughout the journey, passengers can also enjoy folk art performances such as Quan Ho, Ca Tru, Cheo, Hat Xam... making the trip more lively and rich in identity. This is a way to make the railway a means to contribute to promoting tourism and spreading traditional national values.

Dong Van's sacred well - Where legend meets science

Ha Giang Travel - Dong Van stone plateau in Ha Giang, where the climate is harsh and water is scarce all year round, has a crystal clear underground water source that never runs dry. People call it the holy well (central area of Dong Van commune) - a treasure bestowed by heaven, which not only nourishes the village but also preserves sacred legends for many generations.

Legend has it that the Dong Van land was always full of life, with lush green grass and trees, and birds singing merrily every spring. However, since people came to reclaim the land and cultivate, the trees gradually withered and died. Every year, when the rains passed, the water ran out, the land cracked, the trees died, and life became increasingly difficult.

One day, a shaman passed by and saw the shape of the mountain and the land and saw that this was a "hidden dragon" area but was blocked by water source. He advised everyone to find the blocked water source and if it could be cleared, the whole area would be prosperous and peaceful again.

After many days of searching, the villagers discovered a small stream flowing from a high rocky mountain range, blocking the northwest of the valley. After examining it, the shaman confirmed that this was the residence of the Water God, not knowing why he did not give water to the valley and the people in the area. Everyone discussed and agreed to hold a ceremony to ask the God to give water to the villagers to serve their daily lives, to irrigate the dry valley.

After the ceremony, from the rock crevice, water began to increase and flow out in a clear stream. Everyone tried to drink the water and found it very sweet and cool. The water flowed throughout the valley, the withered trees gradually turned green again, and people also had a source of water for daily use, without having to go to the other side of the mountain to fetch water. From then on, the villagers built a temple right here to worship the Water God.

Dong Van plateau has karst geological features, limestone occupies most of the area, thin soil, and scarce surface water. Every year when the dry season comes, many villages lack water for daily use, people have to carry cans far away to get water; everyone shares each ladle of water for daily activities and raising livestock. In that context, the holy well becomes a lifeline, a stable, cool water source all year round, helping the village overcome harsh times. People here still pass on the saying: "With a well, the village will never die of thirst". This is a precious water source, a gift from heaven, thanks to the holy well, people can rest assured to plant and raise livestock, without worrying about thirst.

Through research, geologists have confirmed that the holy well is the outlet of an ancient underground river formed through millions of years of limestone weathering. Thanks to the vast underground cave system, the water source remains stable and flows steadily all year round. The combination of folk legends and scientific explanations further enhances the unique value of the Dong Van holy well.

For the people, the holy well is not only a source of water for daily life, but also a center of community cohesion. At the well, children chatter with their cans, women chat on the stone steps, and men discuss the crops. The people also make rules to protect the well: no washing or dumping of waste at the mouth of the well; dividing the area for domestic water and water for livestock; regular cleaning and dredging... Everyone considers the well the heart of the village and is responsible for preserving it.

Every year, people here choose New Year's Eve to hold a ceremony to ask the gods for new water, pray for health for themselves and their families, pray for favorable weather, good crops, and a happy and prosperous family. On the first and fifteenth day of every month, people often come to burn incense and pray to the Water God for peace, luck, prosperity, and smooth travel.

In recent years, the local government has paid attention to investing and renovating the holy well with a system of stone embankments, washing steps, and stone-paved grounds, creating a harmonious landscape. This place is not only a place to supply water, but also gradually becoming a tourist, cultural and spiritual destination.

Tourists coming to Dong Van, in addition to admiring the majestic mountains and forests, the quiet old town, the sound of H'Mong flutes by the stone fence, also come to the holy well to drink the cool water, listen to ancient legends and feel the strong bond between people and nature.

In addition to renovating the landscape around the holy well, the local government also built a Quay Tau and a H'Mong panpipe - a symbol of the H'Mong ethnic group on the stone plateau. This cluster of tourism products has created a highlight to attract tourists to visit and learn about the wonderful creation of the universe that only Dong Van has.

However, for the holy well to truly become a sustainable tourist attraction, experts say it needs to be done more systematically: protecting the water environment, building bilingual boards introducing geological and cultural values, organizing reasonable experiential activities, and avoiding excessive commercialization.

The holy well today is not only a legend of the past, but also a source of life for the present and the future. It is a treasure bestowed by heaven and earth, a testament to the enduring vitality and steadfast faith of the people on the stone plateau of Dong Van.

Quang Ninh's digital leap: A new era for Vietnamese tourism

Cruise Halong Bay - On the occasion of the National Day September, in the "Tran Dynasty" space at the Quang Ninh Museum, visitor Mai Huy Duc from Hanoi took the opportunity to bring his family to visit and try out the automatic commentary headset.

For many Vietnamese tourists, it was the first time they had encountered a form of introduction using modern technology in a traditional exhibition space.

Not only domestic visitors, many foreign visitors to Quang Ninh also expressed their interest in trying to scan the QR code at Tra Co communal house or Xa Tac temple. With just a simple operation, they can access the explanation content in English, Korean, Chinese...

A foreign tourist said “What I like most is the convenience. No need for anyone to translate, the information appears right on the phone, both fast and intuitive.”

During the field trip of a group of high school students in Hanoi , the excitement was also evident. They said that listening to the explanations and illustrations made the tour like a “history lesson with technology”, easier to remember and much more vivid.

Thanks to the multilingual explanation application, seemingly quiet artifacts - from the Ngoa Van Gold Box to the Thai Lang Tower - become closer and more alive. Therefore, it is no coincidence that Quang Ninh Museum welcomes 750,000-800,000 visitors each year.

Director of Quang Ninh Museum, said that in the coming time, the unit will coordinate with related units to continue adjusting the exhibition space, applying digital technology solutions to help visitors have more interesting experiences and discoveries...

Technology is not only present in museums, but also in many other destinations. In Ha Long Bay, electronic ticketing software helps reduce crowding; at Yen Tu, electronic tickets have replaced traditional ticketing, saving time and providing tighter management. In Ha Long, a smart cruise ship management system is being tested to regulate routes and reduce congestion during rush hours.

These applications have opened up a new way of doing things: bringing technology into tourism life, to make tourists' journeys more convenient, modern and full of experiences.

The electronic ticket system at Yen Tu, Quang Ninh Museum and is expanding in Ha Long bay is considered an important step forward, not only saving time but also better controlling the number of visitors, preventing loss of revenue.

Along with that, human resource training and development is emphasized. Nguyen Nghia, a tour guide at a travel company in Ha Long said: “Previously, managing tourist groups was very manual, sometimes confusing and slow. Since being trained, I know how to use software to update information, interact online with customers, everything is faster and more professional.”

These specific stories show that technology is not just a slogan but has actually entered the daily work of tourism workers.

Another notable step forward is the overcoming of the “wave depression” in Ha Long - Bai Tu Long Bay, which used to cause difficulties for both tourists and businesses. Thanks to the cooperation of major network operators, the entire area is now covered by telecommunications, creating the premise for the synchronous deployment of digital services such as ticket booking, online guidance, and safety warnings right on the bay.

At the same time, Quang Ninh province is also coordinating to build a smart tourist boat management system. Instead of manual coordination, the system will automatically monitor traffic, regulate routes, and allocate boats according to peak hours. This solution is expected to help reduce congestion and ensure safety.

All these efforts show that Quang Ninh is taking the first steps to create a civilized and modern tourism environment.

Despite initial achievements, the journey to digitize tourism in Quang Ninh still faces many significant challenges. With a vast area, both high mountains and offshore islands, telecommunications and technology infrastructure has not been able to cover all areas, creating gaps in digital connectivity.

In many island communes, Internet access remains intermittent, making the implementation of applications such as online ticket booking, automated commentary, or safety warnings incomplete.

Not only infrastructure, the human factor is also a barrier. Thousands of small accommodations and family guesthouses managed by the elderly are still operated manually, with little access to technology.

A homestay owner in Binh Lieu admitted: “I hear about digital transformation, but I’m not even good at using a smartphone, let alone software or applications.” Meanwhile, small and medium-sized enterprises, the majority of the province’s tourism industry, face difficulties in capital and lack of resources to invest in equipment and train human resources.

Some key projects, which were expected to create a boost, such as the Ha Long smart tourism city project, have been slow to implement due to administrative procedures and mechanisms.

Representatives of the leaders of the culture-sports-tourism sector frankly acknowledged: Digital transformation has created clear changes, but cannot be considered a decisive factor for Quang Ninh tourism. That shows that Quang Ninh needs a synchronous infrastructure, drastic implementation and mobilization of the participation of the whole society.

To overcome challenges and achieve the goal of becoming a smart, international-class tourism center, Quang Ninh has identified a comprehensive solution system, connecting from the provincial to the grassroots level, from management agencies to businesses and the community.

According to the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, the province considers the completion of digital data as a key step. The four existing databases, accommodation, travel, tour guides, and tourist areas, will be standardized and connected, while statistics on visitors and tourism products will be added.

When operating in real time, it will become a “hub” to help manage the industry with digital evidence, while providing transparent and authentic information to tourists and businesses.

At the same time, Quang Ninh focuses on applying modern technology. The electronic ticket system will be expanded from Yen Tu, Quang Ninh Museum to other key tourist destinations; relic management software and VR/AR applications will help introduce heritage in a more vivid way.

The province also promotes the deployment of AI chatbots and big data analysis to forecast market trends and personalize tourist experiences.

Regarding infrastructure, Quang Ninh will ensure comprehensive telecommunications coverage. Another pillar is improving the quality of human resources. In the coming period, the province will continue to expand training, coordinate with educational institutions , and encourage businesses to build a "re-skilling" roadmap for staff and tour guides.

More importantly, Quang Ninh emphasizes the mechanism of mobilizing socialization and public-private partnership (PPP). The State will play a role in creating and establishing a legal framework, data platform and digital infrastructure, while technology and travel businesses will participate in developing applications and digital products.

People are both beneficiaries and direct participants, from selling OCOP services and products to promoting destinations via social networks.

In addition, the province also focuses on regional and international connectivity. Action plans emphasize promoting the image of Quang Ninh at international fairs and forums, expanding cooperation with Japan, Korea, Guangxi (China)... The Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh triangle continues to be promoted, connecting transport infrastructure (highway, Van Don airport, international cruise port) with a comprehensive smart tourism system.

It can be seen that the solution that Quang Ninh is implementing does not stop at a few separate applications, but is a synchronous strategy: data-technology-infrastructure-human resources-policy. All aim at the common goal of bringing technology deeply into every experience, so that tourism is not only crowded, but also truly high-quality, civilized and sustainable.

Ta Kon - Binh Dinh’s million-year-old stone citadel

Cheap Vietnam tours - In recent years, the mountainous district of Vinh Thanh (Binh Dinh province) has become known as an attractive tourist destination. The pristine beauty of the mountains and forests combined with the unique cultural space of the indigenous people creates a unique charm for this land.

The mountainous district of Vinh Thanh, located in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province), is blessed with majestic mountains and forests and many beautiful landscapes. In addition, the unique traditional culture of the Bana K'riêm community offers unique experiences to visitors.

According to many tourists, the first impression when coming to Vinh Thanh land is the wild beauty of the mountains and forests, the majestic landscapes. When mentioning the beauty of Vinh Thanh mountains and forests, tourists pay special attention to the million-year-old Ta Kon ancient stone citadel in the middle of Vinh Son old forest.

The straight stacked stone pillars, piercing the blue sky, are a masterpiece that nature has bestowed upon this land. According to the scientific records used as the basis for ranking the Ta Kon citadel relic by the Binh Dinh Provincial Museum, Ta Kon citadel is a range of rocky mountains formed by the Quaternary volcanic eruption millions of years ago. The process of the earth's surface rising has created the stone pillars with the shape they have now.

Ta Kon stone citadel is formed from rectangular and hexagonal stone columns stacked tightly on top of each other, about 500m long and 30-40m high. This place used to be the base of the Tay Son insurgents. During the modern historical period, during the years of war against France and the US, the Ta Kon citadel area used to be the rear base of guerrillas and the main force of Vinh Thanh district until the country's reunification in 1975.

Up to December 25, 2013, Ta Kon citadel was ranked as a historical relic and scenic spot by the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province.

More than a decade ago, exploring Ta Kon was an experience for independent travelers who loved adventure. Approaching the ancient citadel required a lot of effort and perseverance. Now, Ta Kon is closer and friendlier thanks to a 3.3km long, 2m wide concrete road constructed by the Binh Dinh Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board in 2022.

The winding road through the forest is managed and exploited by the Vinh Thanh Forest Protection Management Board. From the main road connecting Vinh Thanh district with Vinh Son, to turn to Ta Kon, visitors must pass through the forestry agency's barrier.

Next to Ta Kon, the majestic Lo Pin waterfall was born from lava flows, weaving a misty curtain of water, pouring down from a height of hundreds of meters. Standing next to the waterfall, tourists will feel like they are lost in paradise.

Right in Vinh Son commune, not far from Ta Kon, is the national relic Nguyen Hue Orange Garden (ranked on January 16, 1995). Going down National Highway 19, there are Phat Luong mountain, Ong Nhac mountain, Ong Binh mountain. Going up to Kbang (Gia Lai), visitors will see Co Hau field, the place to subdue the wild horses of Hon Cong...

Y Linh Ho village: Where terraced fields meet H’Mong traditions

Train Hanoi to SapaAmong the villages that are familiar with the pace of tourists in Sa Pa (Lao Cai province), Y Linh Ho still lies there, peaceful and pristine as if it has never been touched by the whirlwind of tourism.

Winding terraced fields

On his 8th visit to Sa Pa, Y Linh Ho village always makes travel blogger Pham Quang Tuyen from Hanoi overwhelmed by the beauty of terraced fields stretching along the mountainside. While many other tourist villages have been commercialized, this place still retains its distinct indigenous character. Nestled at the foot of Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Y Linh Ho opens up a vast valley scene, terraced fields winding like a golden silk strip when the rice is ripe, and green on cool summer days. It is this pure beauty that has become a favorite meeting place for photographers and nature lovers. Unlike the crowded villages near the center of Sa Pa, Y Linh Ho does not have many homestays or hotels. "Everything is still very natural, carrying the colors of the old Northwest, from the smoke from the bamboo stoves in the afternoon, to the sound of the stream flowing through the terraced fields," Tuyen said.

Forgotten place

8km from the center of Sa Pa town, the road down to the village is steep, so Y Linh Ho is often overlooked by tourists. When the sun sets, the last rays of the day cover the rice fields in gold, turning the whole valley into a brilliant picture. According to Tuyen, when coming to Y Linh Ho, visitors should keep their mind in the state of returning to nature, listening to the sound of the stream, watching children playing in the terraced fields. This is not a place to find exciting experiences, but to feel the rare peace in the heart of Sa Pa. "For me, Y Linh Ho is the most beautiful destination in terms of landscape in the villages during the ripe rice season," he said.

Where is Y Linh Ho village located?

Y Linh Ho village is located about 7 km southwest of Sapa in San Sa Ho Commune, Sapa Town, Lao Cai Province . It is nestled in the majestic Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range and stretches along the Muong Hoa Valley. The area is surrounded by majestic landscapes, with steep mountains and vast terraced fields. Unlike the crowded tourist spots nearby, Y Linh Ho still retains its pristine beauty and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for travelers who want to explore the hidden corners of Northern Vietnam.

How to get to Y Linh Ho village from Sapa?

Visitors can choose between hiking or motorbike to reach Y Linh Ho village. While both routes offer memorable adventures, they may be more ideal for experienced drivers.

By hiking

The route starts from Sa Pa town, passes through Cat Cat village, and continues to Lao Chai San 2 bridge. After passing this point, you will reach Y Linh Ho, hidden in the mountains and forests. The total distance is about 3.5 to 4 km and usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, depending on your walking speed and how often you stop to admire the scenery.

The route has a variety of terrains: some sections are smooth and paved, while others are rocky or muddy, especially after rain. This route is best suited for active travelers who enjoy walking and want to explore unspoiled rural life. Every step of the way, you will encounter photogenic moments of terraced rice fields, majestic mountain views and daily village activities, making it a memorable part of your Sapa visit.

By motorbike

From Sa Pa town, take Provincial Road 152 south towards Lao Chai. After about 3 km, there is a small turnoff near Lao Chai. Tra San where you leave the main road and start following the signs to Y Linh Ho village. The journey takes only 15 to 20 minutes , making this a quick and flexible option for travelers who want to experience the countryside without spending too much time on the road.

The closer you get to Y Linh Ho, the steeper and narrower the road becomes, making it difficult to navigate, especially after rain, as the road surface can be slippery. On clear days, this route offers spectacular mountain views and a bit of adventure, but when it rains or is foggy, it becomes more dangerous. Due to the sharp turns and uneven road surface, this route is not recommended for those who lack experience driving in difficult terrain conditions.

Things to do at Y Linh Ho village

Y Linh Ho village may be off the beaten track, but it offers a wealth of experiences - from breathtaking natural scenery to authentic cultural moments. From enjoying traditional meals to strolling through golden rice fields, your time here is sure to be memorable. Discover the memorable experiences Y Linh Ho Village has to offer

Enjoy terraced fields in Muong Hoa valley

Renowned for its lush greenery and sweeping views, the valley is an ideal place to experience the beauty of nature. A trek through the area will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the local landscape and culture as you stroll between rice paddies and hillside villages.

Try on traditional H'Mong costumes

As you explore the villages around Sapa, you will come across colorful Hmong costumes available for rent for between VND150,000 and VND400,000 per day ($5.78 - $15.41), often offered at the village gates or by locals. Wearing these traditional costumes will help you connect more deeply with the culture and are ideal for taking photos with stunning backdrops such as rice terraces or bamboo houses.

Discover H'Mong cuisine and culture

As you wander through the area, you’ll have the chance to interact with the ethnic minorities, especially the H'mong. Their rich culture is reflected in everything from their colorful traditional costumes to their family meals, music and dances. You may see women weaving, dyeing their fabrics with natural indigo, or practicing the art of batik with melted beeswax. Many of their beautiful products, such as handwoven scarves, bags and embroidered fabrics, are on sale as meaningful souvenirs starting at just 100,000 VND (US$3.85) .

To better understand local life, don’t miss “thang co” – a traditional Hmong soup, usually made from horse meat and herbs, or “lon cap nach” - flavorful grilled pork served with sticky rice. Occasionally, the villagers will also offer you rustic dishes such as corn cakes or dried herbs from the mountains. These simple moments of sharing not only warm the hearts of visitors but also open up a deeper perspective on daily life in the highlands.

Y Linh Ho Village remains one of the most pristine and authentic places in Sapa, offering a closer look at rural life and nature. Away from the touristy areas, this place allows you to slow down and immerse yourself in the local lifestyle. This is a destination worth exploring if you want a quieter and more meaningful travel experience in Sapa.

Exploring Bai Tu Long: A unique alternative to Halong Bay

Indochina Junk - Located next to Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay is receiving attention and investment with many new tourism products and itineraries in a unique, outstanding and different direction.

Located in the Northeast of Quang Ninh province, Bai Tu Long Bay has hundreds of large and small islands. Different from the hustle and bustle of Ha Long, this bay has a pristine beauty, less affected by urbanization. This is a "rough gem" with more than 600 majestic islands, mysterious caves, a diverse marine ecosystem including mangrove forests, corals and traditional fishing villages, along with pristine beaches.

Notably, Bai Tu Long National Park - the 38th ASEAN Heritage Park, with more than 2,200 species of organisms, including many rare species, along with a unique ecosystem of coral reefs, mangrove forests and pine forests. In addition, the bay also preserves important historical and cultural heritages, becoming a potential "resort paradise".

This is the golden material that helps Bai Tu Long develop unique, outstanding and different tourism; emphasized in the Project, Master Plan for tourism development to 2030 and realized through meetings and conferences to discuss the direction of tourism development in Bai Tu Long Bay.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Bai Tu Long Bay Tourism Development Conference held in March 2025 in Van Don District (now Van Don Special Zone), Bai Tu Long currently possesses many favorable conditions for breakthroughs. Synchronous transport infrastructure includes roads, sea routes, and airways; the accommodation system is increasingly diverse with large resorts such as Wyndham Sonasea Van Don, Angsana Quan Lan and the upcoming Ao Tien area with more than 1,000 rooms. The island landscape is suitable for year-round development for many sightseeing products, swimming, boating, paragliding, recreational fishing or ecological experiences.

In fact, Bai Tu Long tourism has had many positive movements in recent times, and specific products have been formed. Since 2024, Quang Ninh has announced 10 tours on Bai Tu Long Bay and 3 routes connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay. Recently, many businesses have participated in developing products and services, such as: Viet Thuan Company deploys tours connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay; Hang Ngoc Rong Company Limited and Vung Duc Tourism Company organize art performances combined with cuisine at Vung Duc Cave and a boat tour of the bay departing from Bai Tu Long coastal port; Vietnam Sightseeing Joint Stock Company develops double-decker bus and coffee bus services.

In Van Don, Everland Group has invested in cruise ships to take visitors on tours of the bay; Bai Tu Long National Park Management Board has built tourism products associated with conservation and experiencing nature. These activities show substantial steps in exploiting potential, forming a diverse product chain, connecting the community and positioning a unique tourism brand.

Besides these encouraging developments, it can be seen that Bai Tu Long Bay has not been exploited to its full potential. To promote development, tourism businesses propose that development must go hand in hand with conservation; building products that are closely related to people's lives, so that the community becomes a link in the development of experiential tourism.

Also at the Bai Tu Long Bay Tourism Development Conference, the Provincial Business Association said that Bai Tu Long - Van Don should be positioned as a destination for tourists who love exploring nature, experiencing ecology and adventure sports, instead of just sightseeing on a boat like Ha Long Bay.

This area has the potential to become a unique destination with outstanding products such as island discovery tours, overnight cruise tours combined with outdoor activities, marine ecological experiences and cultural tourism. Investing in this direction will create a strong impression, attract new customer groups, including international visitors and enhance tourism in Bai Tu Long Bay.

To fully exploit the potential, Provincial People's Committee said that it is necessary to develop synchronous tourism infrastructure connecting Ha Long Bay with Bai Tu Long and the island routes, diversifying products onshore and on the islands; studying the arrangement of separate areas, ensuring landscape and security, serving high-end tourists with high spending capacity. At the same time, investors are requested to study high-quality resort complexes with international brands, while protecting the ecological environment in Van Don and the islands in the bay.

Bai Tu Long is not only a "buffer zone" of Ha Long Bay but also a convergence of unique landscape, ecological and cultural values. Although tourism here is currently limited in that the products are not diverse, easily "overwhelmed" by Ha Long Bay, infrastructure and connections are fragmented, and management is overlapping, but with a strategy to develop outstanding and different products, this place can become a leading, promising destination.

Most beautiful tourist destinations in Na Hang

Na Hang Hydropower Plant

The most attractive tourist destination in Tuyen Quang is the Na Hang Hydroelectric Plant. Currently, the Na Hang Hydroelectric Plant has changed its name to Tuyen Quang and is located on the Gam River basin. This is also the 4th largest hydroelectric plant in the North. Not only providing electricity for local people. Na Hang Hydroelectric Plant is also a favorite destination for tourists. Because of its wild and poetic beauty like a vivid oil painting in the middle of the vast forest. In addition, the sound of the majestic water of the Na Hang Hydroelectric Plant also makes visitors excited!

Na Hang Lake

It would be a mistake to mention Tuyen Quang tourism without mentioning Na Hang Lake. Na Hang Lake is a reservoir of Tuyen Quang Hydroelectric Plant with a capacity of up to 1,500 million m3 of water.

Coming to Na Hang you will not only be amazed by the vastness of the lake. But you will also be "conquered" by the romantic beauty of Na Hang Lake. Especially at dawn when the golden sunlight shines down on the water surface, making Na Hang Lake shimmer and magical. And when the sunset falls, the image of the Sun is reflected on Na Hang Lake, looking strangely attractive.

Vai Pha pile

Coc Vai Pha in Tay language means “the stake to tie the Heavenly buffalo”, this name is associated with a famous legend. The story is about a young man named Tai Ngao - the one who built a dam to prevent flood water from entering the village.

When you see Vai Pha pile standing tall in the middle of Na Hang Lake. You will probably immediately think of the famous Ha Long Bay. If you want to have "lifetime" photos during your trip to Na Hang, don't miss this "Ha Long Bay" background in Tuyen Quang!

Mo Waterfall

Mo waterfall also has another name, Pac Ban, with a system of 3 waterfall floors with its own beauty. In the middle of the vast wilderness, the white Mo waterfall appears extremely prominent on the deep green background of the primeval forests.

From afar, approaching Mo waterfall, you will be able to hear the roaring sound of water flowing from the first waterfall. The first waterfall impresses with its majestic beauty pouring down from above, creating white foam. The second waterfall has a gentle beauty like an 18-year-old girl. Finally, the highest waterfall has a majestic beauty like a brave general. Remember to save Mo waterfall in your Na Hang - Tuyen Quang travel itinerary!

Tat Ke - Ban Bung Nature Reserve

If you have the opportunity to travel to Na Hang, you should visit the Tat Ke - Ban Bung Nature Reserve. Tat Ke - Ban Bung Nature Reserve is located in the territory of 4 communes: Con Lon, Son Phu, Khau Tinh and Thanh Tuong. With an area of about 41,930 hectares, Tat Ke - Ban Bung Nature Reserve is home to a diverse and rich flora and fauna system.

Pac Vang Temple

Pac Vang Temple is located in Con Lon Commune. Pac Vang Temple is a “souvenir” that the Chinese community left behind before leaving the land they had long been attached to. The Chinese community built Pac Vang Temple to worship Quan De Dai Than and the Mother Goddess.

However, because Pac Vang Temple is located in a low position, when building Tuyen Quang Hydroelectric Plant, people moved to a higher position. That is the position you see when visiting Pac Vang Temple today. Pac Vang Temple is the "embodiment" of the cultural exchange between the Chinese and the Vietnamese Mother Goddess worship. Don't forget to make a pilgrimage to Pac Vang Temple during your Na Hang trip.

Khuoi Nhi Waterfall

Khuoi Nhi waterfall is located in Thuong Lam commune and is located about 36km from Na Hang town. You should experience a boat ride on the lake to reach Khuoi Nhi waterfall. From afar, you will see a waterfall with many levels pouring down from a height of 3,000m like a giant transparent wall. The sound of the water pouring down blends into a pleasant and natural melody. In addition to sightseeing and taking photos, you can also experience the free fish massage service at Khuoi Nhi waterfall. Just soak your feet in the cool water. The small fish will come to "massage" you. Khuoi Nhi waterfall promises to bring you great experiences!

Sleeping in Na Hang

Hanoi increasingly asserting position on the world tourism map

Hanoi has been honored in the list of 105 best tourist cities in the world at the prestigious Telegraph Travel Awards 2025, organized by the famous British newspaper The Telegraph. Hanoi tours

This recognition has affirmed Hanoi's position as a leading destination, not only in Southeast Asia but also globally, attracting the affection of millions of international tourists.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam with more than a thousand years of civilization, has excellently won 31st place in the overall list and ranked 10th in the group of cities outside Europe and America.

The Telegraph describes Hanoi as “a city for souls who love light, poetic beauty and the charm of time”.

The unique blend of the ancient features of the old town with winding streets, East-West architecture, and a cultural space imbued with Vietnamese culture has created an irresistible attraction for this city.

Hanoi’s Old Quarter, with its small streets bearing historical imprints, is where visitors can clearly feel the soul of a city over a thousand years old. Ancient houses, temples, and monuments such as Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature or the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum are always must-see destinations.

Besides, Hanoi is also famous for its rich cuisine, from fragrant Pho, rich Bun Cha to unique egg coffee. It is the harmonious combination of tradition and modernity that helps Hanoi score points in the eyes of international tourists.

Not only culturally beautiful, Hanoi also offers unique experiences through its typical flower seasons. The scent of Milk flowers wafting through every street in the fall or the colorful flower stalls around Hoan Kiem Lake always captivate visitors.

Areas such as Duong Lam ancient village, Bat Trang pottery village or green suburban areas also contribute to enriching the journey to explore the capital.

The Telegraph Travel Awards 2025 are based on votes from around 20,000 readers worldwide, to honor the world's most outstanding travel destinations.

The list is divided into two tables: the Top 50 coolest cities in the world and a ranking by geographic region, including Europe, the Americas and other regions.

Hanoi's inclusion in this list is a testament to the growing appeal of Vietnam's capital on the international tourism map.

In the Southeast Asian region, Hanoi has surpassed many famous cities such as Chiang Mai (position 18) and Bangkok (position 40) of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur (position 68) of Malaysia, or Phnom Penh (position 83) of Cambodia to maintain a high position in the region.

This affirms Hanoi's role as one of Asia's leading destinations, offering unique and rich travel experiences.

This year's ranking records significant changes in a number of popular tourist cities.

For example, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) dropped 30 places, from 7th place in 2023 to 37th place. Similarly, San Francisco (USA) also dropped 30 places, falling to 84th place.

In that context, Hanoi's stable and high position on the list is a proud achievement, demonstrating the sustainable appeal of the Vietnamese capital to international visitors.

The recognition from Telegraph Travel Awards 2025 is not only a source of pride for Hanoi but also an opportunity for the capital city to continue affirming its position on the world tourism map.

Preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, while upgrading tourism infrastructure, will be the key for Hanoi to continue to shine. Sustainable tourism development projects , combining the protection of cultural heritage and improving the visitor experience, will help Hanoi maintain its long-term appeal.

Hanoi, with its poetic beauty, rich culture and friendly people, is increasingly becoming an indispensable destination in the journey of international tourists to explore Asia.

The honor from The Telegraph is a testament to Hanoi's great potential, and is also a motivation for the city to continue to innovate, bringing unique and memorable experiences to visitors from all over the world.

Travel Ha Giang and top 6 things not to miss

The following experiences for visitors to Ha Giang promise to bring you unforgettable memories. Ha Giang tour

Solo travel

Solo travel is always one of the experiences for visitors to Ha Giang, especially those who love the feeling of adventure. And of course, solo travel is no exception when you intend to conquer the dangerous and steep roads in this remote border area.

Although traveling alone is a relatively adventurous experience and has certain challenges, this journey still promises to bring you memorable experiences throughout the trip. Moreover, what this activity brings to you is the ability to be more proactive in all situations, to be able to solve and decide all problems, without being bound or dependent on anyone.

Above all, during the trip, you will enjoy the feeling of freedom, not being constrained by anything or influenced by anyone. At this time, you will have a memorable and quiet time to quietly feel the beauty of the border area with countless scenes that make many people miss it.

However, this solo journey requires participants to be equipped with many necessary life skills as well as always maintain alertness, agility and flexibility in all situations.

Camping overnight

It would be a big mistake if the top experiences for visitors in Ha Giang were to miss out on overnight camping. What could be more wonderful than the feeling of having the ground as the foundation and the sky as the roof to spend a day in this remote borderland.

Camping overnight means waking up in a remote place where no one knows who you are, and you don’t care if they know who you are. What you do know is that you will be greeted by the brilliant sunrise at the top of a windy mountain pass, breathing in the fresh air, and looking out into the distance to see the mountain passes hugging the mountainside.

The most popular overnight camping spots are Ma Pi Leng Pass and Don Cao Peak with open views and fresh air.

Conquering the Nho Que River

This is truly one of the experiences for visitors to Ha Giang, especially those who are truly brave. Usually, after conquering the Son Vi border area, people will choose to go by raft back to Meo Vac area. This journey will help people shorten the travel time a lot, instead of having to go through Xin Cai.

The rafts used to travel down the Nho Que River are usually made of bamboo, with a simple steel wire pulley system attached. This is truly a challenging experience reserved for those with high levels of courage.

Overnight in ethnic minority villages

This is a popular experience for those who travel alone to the sunny and windy Ha Giang region. You can freely choose to stop at the villages in Lung Cu, Khau Vai, Du Gia or Lung Ho to fully explore the simple lifestyle of the ethnic minorities here.

If you want to be allowed to stay overnight in the village, act like a friendly, polite guest from afar. Note that you should not abuse the habit of asking to stay overnight too much to avoid causing unfortunate troubles for both yourself and the local people.

Trekking Ma Pi Leng Pass

The Ma Pi Leng Pass trekking journey always promises to bring you unforgettable memories. If you have plenty of time, then this is the most suitable experience for visitors to Ha Giang.

On this journey, you will be able to conquer the most beautiful spots on the pass, known as one of the four great mountain passes in the North. Throughout the trip, you will have to overcome steep slopes, despite the dry sun and the sweltering heat. However, in return, when standing at the highest point of Ma Pi Leng, you will realize that all your efforts will be rewarded with the majestic natural picture stretching out before you.

Explore the wild caves

The famous caves in Ha Giang always attract many people, especially young people who love exploration and adventure.

On the journey to explore the caves, you will certainly experience adventurous moments and also be surprised and excited when you see with your own eyes the wild and majestic scenery.

Halong Bay - A journey to connect heritages

As two Heritage Bays, Halong Bay (Quang Ninh) and Lan Ha Bay (Hai Phong) not only stand out for their breathtaking beauty, but are also gradually connecting to form a series of high-class island journeys, promoting the sustainable development of inter-regional tourism. Cruise Halong Bay

Halong Bay has nearly 2,000 rocky islands, a rich ecosystem and unique landscapes. It has been recognized twice by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage. Lan Ha Bay (Cat Ba, Hai Phong) covers nearly 7,000 hectares, owns more than 400 limestone islands, white sand beaches, clear blue water and a peaceful space, suitable for swimming, kayaking, and coral diving. Viet Hai and Cua Van fishing villages still maintain traditional lifestyles, creating unique cultural experiences.

Not only similar in natural conditions, Halong and Lan Ha also have the ability to connect conveniently by waterway, opening up great opportunities for developing inter-regional tours. The Halong - Lan Ha - Bai Tu Long itinerary helps improve the quality of experience, extend the length of stay and promote resort, sports and island exploration tourism products. This is considered a strategic direction to form a heritage linkage axis and expand the space for developing Northeast island tourism.

Since 2023, Quang Ninh has promoted cooperation with Hai Phong to connect tourist routes between Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. High-level meetings, field surveys and infrastructure assessments have been carried out synchronously. In the first quarter of 2024, Quang Ninh province assigned relevant agencies to study the Halong - Cat Ba waterway tourism route, on the basis of ensuring maritime safety, resource conservation and compliance with the bay planning.

In April, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province held a thematic meeting, agreeing to put the VHL6 route (from Halong international passenger port - through Ba Hang, Hon Ga Choi - to the border of Lan Ha Bay) into official operation. The plan is built on the principles of heritage protection, convenient connection and serving the needs of inter-regional tourism development.

Just one month later, In May, the People's Council of Quang Ninh province passed Resolution No. 51/2025/NQ-HDND, adding route VHL6 to the Halong Bay tour system, stipulating a fee of 150,000 VND/trip for the journey connecting Halong - Lan Ha. This is an important legal basis for realizing inter-regional tourism products, creating a breakthrough for the northern sea and island space.

Currently, Quang Ninh is working closely with Hai Phong to complete legal procedures, build a mechanism for inter-route operations, control modes of transport, protect heritage boundaries and develop unique tourism products. It is expected that the Halong - Cat Ba route will officially open at the end of 2025, attracting great attention and interest from businesses.

According to the Provincial Tourism Association, strengthening linkages not only expands tourism space, but also helps extend length of stay, develop two-way high-end service chains and create motivation for businesses to innovate products.

Many units have quickly caught up with this trend. Lux Group Corporation, a pioneer in the luxury cruise segment operating in both localities, is implementing the "Two Bays - One Journey" product chain, connecting Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay from the summer of 2025. Previously, Thuan Viet Tourism Joint Stock Company was also successful with the Halong Bay - Bai Tu Long route, showing the great potential of the island cruise connection model.

Representatives of the management agencies of Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay, together with interdisciplinary units of the two localities, conducted a survey of the actual resources and development potential of the border area between the two bays in early 2024.

Accordingly, the 5-star LuxGroup cruise offers a 4-6 day journey through heritage bays, combining relaxation and cultural and marine sports experiences. Personalized services and unique activities such as kayaking, trekking, sunset parties, and night tours... create a distinct mark and affirm the capacity of Vietnamese businesses in the international market.

Connecting Halong - Lan Ha is not only opening a sightseeing route, but is also a strategic step to create a sustainable inter-regional tourism space. With consensus and close coordination between the two localities, the "two bays - one destination" journey will be the key to awakening the tourism potential of the North, bringing Vietnam's heritage bays to the international level.
